TDLA Deposition Skills Academy

The TDLA will host its 1st annual virtual Deposition Academy on February 27, 2025. Academy attendees will learn from and be teamed with leaders in the Tennessee defense community for a program on the skills and techniques for practical and effective depositions. Geared toward young lawyers, the Academy hopes to provide instruction and insights for lawyers with different levels of experience and those who seek to hone their deposition skills. Whether you’ve never taken a deposition or you’ve taken many, attendees will come away with tips, techniques and pointers to help them succeed when taking depositions.

The format for the Academy will be interactive with instruction from TDLA leaders, roundtable discussions and real-world examples. Emphasis will be placed on:

(1) party and fact witness depositions (including preparing witnesses and defending the same);

(2) medical and expert depositions (include treating doctors, medical experts and retained experts); and

(3) corporate representative depositions.

12:30-1:00p CST: Overview of the Deposition

1:00-2:30p CST: Party and Fact Witness Depositions

2:30-2:45p CST: Break

2:45-4:00p CST: Medical and Expert Depositions

4:00-4:30p CST: Corporate Representative Depositions

This course has been approved for 3.75 hours of General TN CLE. This virtual academy will be interactive with attendees expected to participate. Course materials will be emailed to participants. This will held on a Zoom Pro platform and mandatory "video on" for all attendees.

Registration is limited to twelve (12) TDLA Young Lawyer Members. Early Bird registration cost is $100/ participant before February 7th. After February 7th, registration cost will be $150/ participant. Registration ends February 21st.
